About the Continental CONTI ECOCONTACT EP

The Continental Conti Ecocontact EP is a passenger summer tire, that comes as an original equipment option on Smart ForTwo cars. They are extremely low rolling resistant tires, so their design helps to save fuel, and reduce vehicle emissions. Being summer tires, they also provide great traction in dry and wet conditions, and like other summer tires they shouldn’t be driven in snow or ice. The Continental Conti Ecocontact EP has a high silica compound which is then molded into an asymmetric tread design with a wide circumferential rib, shoulder blocks, and solid tread blocks, which all help to maximize the contact with the road. By maximizing contact with the road, Continentals engineers were able to design a product which increases on road responsiveness and cornering stability, while also reducing noise and improving the quality of ride. The highly enriched slicia compound mixed with its asymmetric tread design is how the Continental Conti EcoContact EP was able to achieve its results as a low rolling resistant tire. Wide tread grooves, and independent tread blocks help improve wet weather traction and resist hydroplaning. The internal structure of the tire include dual steel belts that help to stabilize the ride, while a polyester casing helps to improve the quality of ride.
